Aluminium 6060 is one of the most commonly used aluminium alloys. Its main advantage is its high strength, higher than commonly used aluminium alloys such as aluminium 6061.

In terms of chemical composition, aluminium 6060 contains approximately 97.4% aluminium, 1% magnesium, 0.5% silicon and 0.1% manganese. This alloy is suitable for a variety of applications including construction, automotive, electronics and other areas.

How is 6060 aluminium actually produced?

The basis for the desired alloy is the exact ratio of the individual elements, for example magnesium, silicon or manganese. It is the precise combination of elements that ensures the desired properties.

After mixing, the alloy is heated to a high temperature to become liquid. It can then be cast into the required moulds or shapes. The alloy can also be hot-formed, for example by rolling, pressing or drawing.

After forming and processing, aluminium 6060 can be further processed, for example by grinding, polishing or painting . Once the processing is complete, the alloy can be used to manufacture a variety of products, typically structural components, electrical components and more.

Why 6060 aluminium?

We’ve already mentioned high strength, but 6060 aluminium also has excellent corrosion resistance and is weatherproof, making it ideal for outdoor use.

The application of 6060 aluminium is wide, for example for the production of windows, doors, railings, scaffolding, furniture and many other products. It is the lightness and strength that allows for a strong and durable construction.

Aluminium alloys, including 6060 aluminium, also have the advantage of easy recycling. Aluminium is easy to cast, form and can be recycled repeatedly without significant deterioration in its properties. This means that aluminium products can be recycled and used again and again, which is in line with the sustainability trend.
